Route: Töölö Bay / Töölonlahti

Hi,

One of my goals is to find different routes. Walking, cycling or in public transport. Routes where we can enjoy together the city of Helsinki.

First: the Töölö Bay /Töölönlahti route.  In my opinion it is one of the best places Helsinki. It's located in the middle of the city and it's easy to reach from any point of the city. I divide it in three parts: Hakansalmenpuisto, Töölönlahti and Linnunlaulu. About 2,1 km, an adult can do it in 20-25 min. Of course with kids it may be different.  In general, the path is flat and asphalted, there is only one slope of 450 m (up & down) which is easy to pass. The route's views are amazing; pure nature in the heart of HKI. It is normal to find wild ducks and swans.

In Hakansalmenpuisto,  there is a spacious kindergarden with different games. Next to it, there's a chess park where you usually see people playing. Nearby, the restaurant Töölönranta and café Tyyni (closed during winters). Then, also the Opera house, where there is an open air amphitheatre. During summers you see people doing all kinds of stuff there, like Zumba lessons. This park is great for picnics.

In Töölönlahti, there is the Finlandia Hall designed by Alvar Aalto. There are guided visits but I do not know if they are child friendly - maybe I should check it out and make a post about it.

And finally, a pit stop in the lovely café Sininen Huvila, located in Linnunlaulu. It has spectacular views but also a bit of a slope. A kid walking could complain a bit, but really, since pushing the baby stroller is nothing - what are the father's shoulders made for.

Bye!

Hola,

Adios!
